Welcome to FilterShop

Over four years in development and comprising 350,000 lines of code, FilterShop provides a new comprehensive and unified approach to the design of both analog and digital filters. Mixed signal target functions as well as circuit designs can be easily integrated and modeled together as a single system.

FilterShop provides a substantial collection of powerful features and capabilities which enable extremely complex designs to be constructed with high accuracy and relative ease. All of these features are available through a rich graphical interface, without the need of user programming or custom code.

A full AC circuit simulator is included with advanced components specialized for filter design work, not found in typical SPICE type simulators. Moreover, it includes a highly integrated and sophisticated target generation system which is capable of modeling virtually any type of analog and/or digital filter.

 

Analog Synthesis & Optimization  

The essential task in any analog filter design, is to specify a desired target response, and then to construct a circuit design which produces the response with the required accuracy. This task is generally accomplished using one of two fundamental methods: synthesis or optimization. FilterShop supports both of these two fundamental approaches.

Synthesis is the process of directly calculating the required component values for a given (known) circuit topology, where the design equations have already been determined. Over 500 predefined circuit topologies for synthesis are provided.

Optimization is the process of adjusting component values by trial and error until the desired target response is obtained. This trial and error process can be conducted manually by the user, or in an automated fashion by use of an optimization engine. FilterShop contains several optimization engines, for both circuit and target optimization.

 

Digital Synthesis & Approximation

FilterShop provides extensive design tools both for standard and specialized FIR and IIR filters. The system provides a large array of analog to IIR transformations including full support for single stage, cascade, and parallel realizations. Several approximation methods are also available.

A wide variety of FIR generation methods or wizards are featured. FilterShop provides both bipolar/unipolar linear phase, and spectral factorization transforms for minimum/maximum phase.

The proprietary Remez implementation provides a large catalog of optimal filters, including optimized design of Multirate and Interpolated filters. Z-Plane roots editors, several approximation methods, and other FIR transformations.
