The characterization
of environmental, traffic, aircraft, occupational, and industrial noise
requires a large amount of data collection and processing. These tasks
are ideally suited to a PC based system where data storage, processing,
and printing are common.
The pcRTA
provides data recording from seconds to hours, and automatically provides
statistical analysis using a large array of traditional noise descriptors,
many which can be adjusted and modified by the user. Graphical and text
data can be easily saved to disk files, or printed in full color through
any Windows® printer. The pcRTA
offers a versatile collection of measurement and analysis capabilities,
laboratory precision, and at less cost than a typical sound level meter.
The software provides
a powerful and highly flexible interface for data logging of acoustic
and recorded noise signals. Measurements are made continuously over the
period of time set by the user, and the resulting data is displayed on
five different graphs as well as a statistical analysis chart calculated
automatically by the software. pcRTA
functions as an integrating noise analyzer with selectable detector types:
Leq, Peak, Fast, and Slow.
With a dynamic range
greater than 120dB, the analyzer utilizes precision MFL class II filters
to capture data with true RMS Type I accuracy. In addition to collecting
broadband SPL data, the unit has 31 1/3 octave band filters set at the
ISO center frequencies. This provides the user with frequency specific
information over the entire period of the test run. ANSI filters A,B,C,D,
and E can be applied to the full range band and/or the 1/3 octave bands.
