"The LX700 system software is provided as a Windows(r) 32 bit application. It is likely that future versions may also include a Windows(r) 64 bit version, and possibly a Linux version if demand develops. " [http://www.linearx.com/products/analyzers/LX700MAIN/LX700_03.htm]
Not that I am asking (or demanding)... more curious as to what demand there is and not from me!
I see the ARM7 (and ARM9) references and real time operating system [http://www.linearx.com/products/analyzers/LX700MAIN/LX700_04.htm], and curious which embedded OS is used (if Linux, then I can see Chris being more open to Linux demand) -- there are RTOS's available for ARM as well.
What I suspect is that if the code is written well and doesn't follow the newest, latest and greatest Win32 API's, then WINE will probably work and for Ethernet interface, don't have to hack with GPIB or USB under Wine.
I've been out of it for a while (too numerous to mention and not proper posting here), so need to do more reading up on LX700, but glad to see the next product line rolling out! I am interested in the potential for Linux demand but I am not pushing it (I understand you must prioritize your workload)... I've been getting into embedded electronics as well (Microchip PIC tho), so I am technically dazzled reading between the lines!
I would be willing to help test but that is soooo far down the road that it is almost not worth mentioning here!
