Hi,

I have my LMS card in the PAC4.
Periodically it gives me the slow sequence of Hi-Lo-Hi-Lo
tones, then the Baud light flashes and the system light turns
off. The unit obvoiusly does not function after that point.
The PAC4 manual says this code means "internal power supply
failure" however the unit will work again if I restart the LMS
software .
This is very annoying. Do you know what could be causing this
and/or how I can fix this?

Thanks.

This is not a problem that we have seen in the field before. There may be a real problem with one of the power supplies in the PAC4. Or there could be a problem with the microprocessor that monitors the supplies. You will have to send the PAC4 to us for repair.

I've been using LMS for about a month and a half and I run into this same problem occasionally. I noticed the problem only happens when I open the analyzer parameter box directly following a measurement. Then I opened the PAC interface and found that it was running off of its internal power supply(a dc source i think) This was giving the unit a very small supply voltage, something like a tenth of a volt, when it needed +12 volts. To fix this problem I just wait about three seconds after I take a measurement to open the analyzer parameters. It seems to prevent the PAC from switching power supplys.
Another thing, if you do hear the beeps check the settings in the PAC interface and make sure the +12 volt is somewhere close. And make sure the PAC is running off of an external power supply, but if it is not, there is a box in the PAC interface that labels which power supply the PAC is using. If it says "internal" STOP the link, then START the link again, this will save you time instead of shutting down LMS and restarting

Hope this helps in trouble shooting.
